Responsible travel in Nepal: 01 trekker: 01 Porter

Mountain Monarch has started to have the ONE TREKKER: ONE PORTER policy since 2015 on our entire trekking and climbing trip above 4000 meter in Himalayas from 2015. The personal porter is more like having your own personal Sherpa walking or climbing next to you. He carries a much a lighter weight of around 15 Kilo only on specially designed Mountain Monarch Day Pack which is much lighter weight than any other porters you encounter on route so he can help and support you and deal easily with any problems that arise at higher elevation trekking and climbing trip in the Himalayas.

Environment issue

While conducting tours and trekking program, protection of the fragile environment is our topmost concern. Mountain Monarch is aware to preserve & conserve the past glory of our ancestors and to hand over all the Natural and Cultural affluent to our next generation. Mountain Monarch as a local company and as our lives have revolved around the Mountain & valleys, we feel bigger and increased responsibility to protect and preserve these Natural and cultural resources.

We are committed to minimizing the negative impact of tourism and enable you to ‘take only photos, leave only footprints’. We cook using kerosene or LPG gas and bring back non-biodegradable items on all trips. Being a member of KEEP (Kathmandu Environmental Education Project), we are organizing various ‘Eco- Tourism Workshops’ in association to protect the fragile environment and indigenous cultures of the Himalayan Kingdom of Nepal

We ensure good pay, life insurance, helicopter evacuation, as well as the equipment and clothing needed for porters and each member of staff. MMA has fulfilled all the standard set by IPPG (International Porter Protection Group) for the welfare and safety of all porters and is committed to improving their livelihoods. They are our kith and kin as well as the backbone of trekking in Nepal. No wonder all of the staff including porters want to work for us over and over again.
