Trip Overview

Gokyo lakes Everest trekkig is the most dramatic, pristine and interesting of the entire Everest region. Our Gokyo lakes trekking explores the stunning mountain sceneries, insight into Sherpa life and key monasteries of the region.

We spend first 2 days in Kathmandu exploring one of the Asia’s most fascinating cities’ cultural sights and sounds before flying to Lukla to start Gokyo lakes Everest trekking. Following the Dudh Koshi River, we step to Namche, the heart of Everest region, where we take acclimatization rest, which simultaneous allow us to explore the Sherpa culture and tradition.

The trail to Gokyo Lakes, one of the highlights of our Gokyo valley trip, ascends gradually and we enjoy a series of short walking trekking days to ensure proper acclimatisaion. We trek to Gokyo Ri to witness what is one of the most comprehensive and impressive panoramic view of snow peaks in the Himalayas: Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho – Oyu, Amadablam, Tawache, Thamaserku, Cholatse (6542m), Kantega (6685m) Lobuche (6145m), Gyangchung Kang (7922m) and many more all around you: a breathtaking Himalayan scenery.

We cross the Rinjo la pass over 5360 to get into Bhote Koshi valley which is less trodden trekking route out to Namache via the hidden Thame village to end our exhilirating trip to Gokyo lakes in Everest region.

Outline Itinerary

  • Day 01 : Arrive in Kathmandu / transfer to hotel / Nepali dinner with cultural program.
  • Day 02 : Explore Buddhist Boudhnath and Hindu Pashupatinath temple. PM free.
  • Day 03 : Fly to Lukla and commence trek.
  • Days 04 -05 : Trekking up the Dudh Khosi Valley and climb to Namche / acclimatization rest day / view the majestic Mt. Everest.
  • Days 6 - 8 : Proceed up the Gokyo Valley and enjoy views of massive Cho Oyu.
  • Days 9 - 10 : Pass the terminal moraines of the Ngozumpa Glacier and the first three Gokyo Lakes to Gokyo. Climb Gokyo Ri: enjoy the amazing Himalayan vistas.
  • Days 11 - 15 : Trekking down to Lukla via the different route of famed Thyanboche monastery: sleep on the shadow of stunning Ama Dablem.
  • Days 16 : Fly back to Kathmandu.
  • Day 17 : Time in Kathmandu to relax and explore Kathmandu cultural diversity.
  • Day 18 : Trip ends / airport transportation.
